Complimentary webinar, courtesy of the Washington, DC Chapter of Association of Certified Financial Crime Specialists (ACFCS)

Part 1 in a three-part webinar series on beneficial ownership issues. Please note that this session is closed to the press and presented under Chatham House rules.

In successive mutual evaluations of the United States’ anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing measures, FATF has rated the United States “non-compliant” with FATF Recommendation 24, on transparency and beneficial ownership of legal persons.

Legislation pending in Congress—particularly the Corporate Transparency Act of 2019—would partially address deficiencies in U.S. beneficial ownership transparency. The Trump Administration has voiced its support for the Corporate Transparency Act, subject to modifications, and stated that its aim is to pass beneficial ownership legislation in 2020.

This program will cover:

  • The current state of beneficial ownership regulation in the United States
  • The Corporate Transparency Act, and
  • The positions of key government and private sector stakeholders.

ACFCS thanks Bruce Zagaris, Partner at Berliner Corcoran & Rowe, and Hdeel Abdelhady, Principal at MassPoint Legal and Strategy Advisory, for their support and coordination of this event.

This session is eligible for 1 CFCS credits.
