WASHINGTON—The Financial Services Roundtable (FSR) today welcomed a bipartisan data security proposal sponsored by Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO) and Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and called it a crucial step in the legislative process to better protect consumers.
This bipartisan data security proposal prioritizes consumer protection by creating a strong standard to keep sensitive data protected, and ensuring consumers are quickly informed when a breach puts them at risk,” said FSR’s Vice President of Government Affairs, Jason Kratovil. “We thank Reps. Luetkemeyer and Maloney for their leadership and look forward to working with the Financial Services Committee and all interested stakeholders to advance a much-needed data security bill across the finish line.
Earlier this week, FSR sent a letter to the Financial Services Committee calling on Congress to enact strong data security legislation. To read the full letter, click here.
