Below are links to memorandums issued by the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA/ DHS) and the U.S. Department of the Treasury, which identify financial services workers as ‘Essential Workers” and Financial Services as one of 16 Critical Infrastructure sectors. These memorandums reference the CISA Guidelines for Essential Workers released on March 19th, 2020 and can be used as companion pieces.
BPI worked with Treasury, CISA, associations partners and other sectors and information sharing groups to develop these guidelines. Upon completion, CISA released these for broad distribution to the critical infrastructure sectors and state police associations, police chiefs’ associations, the National Governors Association and others to assist with the reasonable movement of essential workers.
Workers across the financial services sector play an important role in supporting the American people and our Nation’s economy. Consistent with the need to ensure access for essential financial services workers, Secretary Mnuchin issued the attached memorandum. This memorandum points to guidelines from the President and the Department of Homeland Security [CISA] which provides guidance to State and local officials as they work to protect their communities while ensuring continuity of critical functions to public health and safety, as well as economic and national security.[In using these] everyone should follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [as well their firms’ policies] and State and local officials regarding strategies to limit disease spread. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of the workforce and ensure the continued operations of the financial services sector in support of our Nation’s economy.
