Cybersecurity Should Continue to be Priority for DHS Secretary Nominee

WASHINGTON – The Financial Services Roundtable (FSR) today welcomed President Trump’s nomination of Kirstjen Nielsen to be the next Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and calls upon her and policymakers to continue to make cybersecurity a priority that is crucial to safeguarding America and the financial industry.

“Kirstjen’s cybersecurity expertise will be very valuable in her new role and it will help assure cybersecurity will remain a top priority for the Department,” said FSR CEO Tim Pawlenty. “The financial industry looks forward to continuing our efforts with the Administration to help keep the American people, our financial system and economy safe from cyber threats and other threats to our country.”

“Cyber is one of the greatest threats to the economy and today’s nomination further shows cybersecurity remains a priority for the Administration,” said Chris Feeney, President of BITS, FSR’s cybersecurity and technology policy division.

Cybersecurity is a top priority for FSR member firms and the financial industry has a long history of significant investment and collaboration with government partners to protect critical infrastructure.
